FAQs

  • Every therapy experience is unique and is set on a foundation of trust and being judgement-free. I will be there to provide support, stay curious about who you are as a person and situations you have gone through, and what you need help with in order to keep moving forward. This foundation and curiosity will help conversations unfold. I will be there to share insights, make connections in your story, and help alleviate negative feelings you may have.

  • Therapy sessions typically last 45-55 minutes. Frequency and duration of services depends upon the individual and presenting concern. The most appropriate course of treatment will be discussed at the onset of our therapeutic relationship.

  • It’s true that a lot of people wait until they are in crisis or an event has occurred that causes them pain before they begin therapy, but it’s definitely not a requirement. In fact, when we are not in crisis, it can mean the deeper explorations of therapy can begin and focused on. Whatever reason brings you into therapy is great, because it means something inside wants to be heard and become empowered.

  • The relationship we build is the most important aspect of whether psychotherapy is successful for you. Therefore, I offer a free 15-minute initial phone consultation where you will tell me a little bit about yourself and what you are looking for as well as ask any questions you have. This way we know that we are a good fit before any commitment is made.

  • Before your first telehealth session, I will provide you with all of the information about accessing our secured telehealth platform. It is encouraged to read this information carefully, try out the software, and contact me if you have questions. Once you’re in the video platform, I will do the utmost to ensure your sessions proceed just like they would if you were in person. You should feel free to talk openly, ask questions, and continue your therapeutic exploration as if you were in a traditional session. If for some reason there is a service connection that arises, I will call you so that the session can proceed.

  • Goals are very important and tend to be the backbone of the work we do together. I like to see first if you have anything in mind, maybe a goal that has carried over from a past therapy experience. Then I like to let you know different ways we can go about it - usually tackling short term solutions as we continue down the road toward more long term ones. I like leaving you with something to think about each session until the next time we meet, so we can slowly chip away at the long term goal.
